Hello everyone! I am back with something amazing. I am going to be doing interviews with people in the writing community! This includes people on Wattpad, plop, spotlight, episode and more. You may remember my author interviews that I did on a podcast/ youtube channel. Well, I wanted to switch it up as some people do not live in the same time zone or didn't feel comfortable sharing their voice. With this method they can share their own voice without talking (if that makes any sense.) I want this to be inclusive as I can in the writing community. So, these will be titled Community interviews. Originally I was just going to do author interviews but, after some careful thinking this is what I came up with. If anyone has any ideas for a title feel free to comment them. Now, lets get to the fun part. I interviews Dominique who is one of my amazing wolf sisters (really close friend/ best friend) in the episode and writing community. We've shared ideas, gaming tips and so much more. She has really became an amazing friend. She also gave some amazing answers to my interview questions. Now, lets get to the interview.
1.) What do you all write on? (episode, wattpad, spotlight stories, etc.)
Dominique: I write on Episode, Wattpad, Tumblr, and hopefully soon Spotlight Stories.
2.) What is your favourite genre to write?
Dominique: I love writing fantasy romances. My main
characters usually don’t have a love interest, but I love a good romantic side plot with side
characters.
3.)How did you get into writing?
Dominique: When I was little, I’d write about conversations I’d imagine
my stuffed animals would have. After that, I moved on to write and direct movies about my dolls.
I remember in school I’d write about my day-to-day activities but in the most cinematic way
possible. After that, I found Episode and realized you could write on it. The rest is history.
4.) How did you discover the episode app?
Dominique: I believe I found it after scrolling through the
Amazon Games app on my Kindle Fire. I know that sounds very specific but hopefully, someone
can relate, LOL!
5.) What do you all do in the community?
Dominique: Currently, I write stories, write a blog to help
authors in the community, and complete commissions. I used to do story reviews, story
shoutouts, Instagram shout outs, interviews, and more through various Episode groups.
6.) What made you fall for your favourite genre you write?
Dominique: I think I love fantasy so much
because of the escapism. What made me love it so much is I didn’t have to think about my
problems in life. Lately, though, I’ve been testing the waters of making fantasy more realistic
and mirrored towards reality.
7.) Any projects in the work that you'd like to share?
Dominique: I have this one very short story coming out on Episode by the end of the year! Right now, I’m planning on announcing this on November 15th! Also, I’m hoping on working on a couple of Spotlight stories. One is a revamp of an old
story that I really want to bring back, and another is an idea that I had for Episode but couldn’t
write in time for as a contest entry.
8.) Would you ever do a collaboration?
Dominique: I was thinking about collaborating with this one person in the Episode Community, and making a romance/comedy story. I think she’s super talented, but I don’t want to say who because nothing is set in stone, mainly because we’re both super busy college students.
9.) Who are you favourite people in the community?
Dominique: There are way too many people to
name because I admire so many people in the community. I do love Greek, Andrada, Sylvia
Eve, Gerr, Kat Goods, Tal, Tanji, Soleo, and Reina.
10.) Do you have any new projects, stories, anything you'd like to share with me?
Dominique: I’d like to share my requests on my Ko-Fi page! I offer so many different things for people like
proofreading, story workshopping, beta reading, coding commissions, and contest help. Not
only that but I have 3 Membership Tiers.
11.) IS there anyone you admire as a role model in the community? If so who and why?
Dominique: I look at Bronte as an influential figure in the community. I admire her devotion, hard work, and
positivity throughout her time in the community. Especially being able to make her dream of
becoming a full time author a reality, which is what I’m hoping to do one day.
12.) Do you find instagram has evolved from when you first started out?
Dominique: I feel that Instagram is much different now. When I first started out, photo posts weren’t as clear and
professional looking as they are now, and more people looked at Instagram stories to find out
when someone published. A couple years ago, people looked at videos and reels more often,
and now we’re looking at the switch back into photo sharing.
13.) What did you find difficult to learn when you first started on episode?
Dominique: I found coding to be the hardest part. I had a little experience coding with Hour of Code in the past learning
java through blocks, but that was not very similar to this.
14.) What are all your stories you have currently released? (Can be on episode or
whatever other writing platform you write on.)
Dominique: I released a lot, and privated a lot because I’m not as proud of those ones as my newer ones. I released Time Explorers in Ink, Limelight, and on Wattpad. Along with Between in Ink and Limelight. I also released Sea of Stars on Episode, Lovely Belated on Episode, Code 55 in Classic, SWY: The Other Half of Me on Episode, Magic
Prep on Episode, and Short Stories on Wattpad.
15.) What is one genre you'd like to try your hand at writing?
Dominique: I’d love to try a mystery one day, but I’m so bad when it comes to suspense and keeping secrets about my plot. One day when I improve my writing and can keep my mouth shut I’d love to!
15.5) What is one thing you can share about Magic Prep that hasn't been released yet?
Dominique: Season 1 is ending, and it’s going to hurt my soul. There’s three more chapters left, so make
sure you’re up to date! But apart from that, I’m bringing in new characters to season 2.
16.) If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you like to go?
Dominique: I would love to go to Italy or Ireland. I have a lot of family in Europe so I’d love to spend a couple days in one of those countries.
17.) Are there any groups you are apart of/ created that you'd like to share?
Dominique: I’m currently helping Sylvia Eve with the Hood Awards this award season. Apart from that I’m not doing much
when it comes to groups, but I used to be apart of a few different ones.
18.)What is some advice, tips or trick, or anything you'd like to share for those just
starting out writing?
Dominique: I know many people like to advise people to spend loads of time making
sure their story is the best it can be before it comes out, but I don’t think you should do that. Be
okay with your story not being perfect. Don’t set your personal standards too high, because
you’re learning a new skill. If you’re not amazing immediately, that’s okay and to be expected.
No one’s going to look down on you for not being perfect, and neither should you. As well as, it
gives you mistakes to learn from when you do your second story, and your third, and more.
Keep improving the quality of your work, don’t expect to start out perfect.
19.) Any final thoughts or tea you'd like to share?
Dominique: I think being in this community for so long, I’ve seen people come and go. I just want you to know that there will be ups and downs, but don’t feel like you are alone in your journey in this community. People are more than eager to be your friend, support your craft, and more. Finding the right people makes all the negatives worth
it.
